I’M KRYSTAL

I’ve had 30 years on this earth and I’ve spent almost 5 of them supporting growing families. I was raised in New York but landed in Los Angeles CA where I made the career shift from singer/performer to doula. My initial training was the Doula Trainings Int full spectrum birth and postpartum doula program. I attended my first birth in July of 2018. In 2021 I was offered a scholarship to take a virtual birth doula training with Carriage House Birth and I am fortunately still engaging with and learning from their curriculum today. I continue on my journey as a birth worker every day with gratitude. While my formal trainings have given me tools, much of what I learn that equips me to support women and families have been gifts from the fullness of life that I live .. that and the years I hope to continue to accumulate of walking into peoples homes and lives.

I try to acknowledged often that I am highly favored to have my passion also be my work. I am truly blessed to do the work I love and as a result I do my job of showing up, caring and holding space quite well. Being a doula is my life style not only my livelihood. My journey to this work started in 2015 when I was carrying my first baby, Daphne. Anyone who has ever asked when birth dropped into my heart has heard my story. Since my first pregnancy mother, in all its many forms, has been at the center of my being. I am birthmother or “Bima” to my spunky girl Daphne who I placed in an open adoption. I am a step mother to my sweetest girl Hailey who’s father Bryan I am joyfully married to. I am mother to my gentle son Kenji who joined me in 2021 and my son Wylder (named for his truly “wyld” entrance) born in 2023.

Love, family and new baby brought me here to Kitsap County WA in the winter of 2022 after nearly a decade in California. The PNW is a love I never knew I had! I enjoy the innate connection to nature and the ease of finding and building community. It is my goal in all things to be love in awareness and I embrace this new chapter!

What is a doula today?

A doula is an emotional, physical and informational support person. Doulas provide a warming presence on your journey. To hold space for your spiritual change and help you manage physical and mental challenges as they come. The only thing that is truly known about birth is that we cannot know how it will unfold. Doulas share our hearts, hands and minds to mirror back to you your power and the strength of your intuition while you flow with the birth experience that comes to you.

A postpartum doula’s role is a kindred role to the birth doula. Reassurance, empowerment, education, ease, support, heightened awareness and the opportunity to be fully present and firmly stood in your power as you enter into parenthood.
